Launching COVID-19 community response networks

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we heard from so many in our community who were struggling to cover their rent and bills, put food on the table, and understand how to keep their families healthy and safe.

So we worked with the County of Santa Clara to launch a new hotline — COVID-19 Assistance Navigation (CAN) — to help people in our community find the legal, financial, and health resources they need to weather this crisis.

We also launched the Community Health & Business Engagement Team (CHBET) to help small business owners understand public health guidance while protecting their employees and customers and keeping their businesses afloat.

Since March, our CAN team has had over 40,000 conversations with residents and connected over 4,000 to lifesaving support, while our CHBET team has supported over 6,500 small business owners across the County.

In 2021, our teams will continue to promote the safety and well-being of our communities, essential workers, and vital small businesses by running these programs throughout the pandemic. We will also launch a new residential outreach program to make sure all our community members have the information and resources they need to stay healthy and safe.
